Welcome back! Today we will be reviewing American Carnage #9 which is written by Bryan Hill and art by Leandro Fernandez.
I don’t think I have ever reviewed American Carnage on this blog, so I will give you all a quick idea of what this book is about. Basically, an FBI agent was killed and his partner asks Richard Wright to help infiltrate a mysterious organization run by a presidential candidate to investigate who killed her partner. It’s revealed that they are basically a racist cult that is trying to infiltrate the white house and Richard has to stop them and get justice for the FBI agent.
This issue was really interesting because it is the end of the story. Richard has been stopped from finishing out every plan that he has and in this issue, he realizes that the only way to stop them is to do something that he would never do. He goes to the Morgan’s house, but what he wasn’t expecting was that Jeniffer Morgan was there and not her father. Now, Jennifer has always been able to get the upper hand at this point and stop Richard. But this time, Richard isn’t playing and ends up killing her. Then he spins the story so that Morgan’s presidential campaign gets screwed. Then he protects the FBI by making him look like he did this on his own accord and has himself killed. It’s a smart and really interesting ay to end the book. I love the corruption in this book, even though some of its plots were a little less intelligent.
Overall, the book was a strong and unexpected ending and I enjoyed it.
(How good is the story? Does it stand up to others?)
(Does it tell the story? Does it work well with the character?)
(Does this story need to be told? Is it helping the Character?)
(Is the character represented well? Does the writer understand the character?)
