Well, this is an interesting little news tidbit. A source from The Wrap has confirmed that a sequel to Man of Steel is in active development.
A source familiar with the project told The Wrap, “Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.” What we are assuming is that executives have begun to brainstorm ideas, starting to consider writers, directors and more for a Superman-focused solo film to fit into the DCEU sometimes after the events in Justice League.
The studio is also busy with a slew of other superhero films such as The Justice League and Wonder Woman. Warner Bros. also rolled out Suicide Squad this past weekend, stunning critics and fans with its record-breaking opening. The super-villain flick opened to over $135 million to make it the third-highest opening film of the year.
While there are already about eight DC films in various stages of development at the moment, there are still a few “untitled” films with release dates: October 5, 2018, and November 1, 2019. At this point, a safe bet would be the 2018 date will end up being Ben Affleck’s Batman film and the 2019 film would be this Superman movie, but that’s pure speculation on our part right now.
We have always been behind another movie featuring the Man of Steel and we are excited to see what could happen with this movie.
