When news hit earlier this year that Booster Gold would be making it on the big screen, fans got pretty excited (us included). There has been very little information until now and we are kind of scratching our heads over this tidbit.
According to Greg Berlanti, who is developing the film and possibly directing it, Booster Gold won’t be part of the same universe as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the other upcoming DC Films.
“As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds,” Berlanti told Vulture. “It’d be a separate thing.”
The Booster Gold film, which will be written by X-Men: First Class Zack Stentz, was confirmed back in May this year. Berlanti was previously involved with the character when he was producing a pilot script for a potential Booster Gold television series which is where the inspiration for the film arose. Berlanti, as most of you know, is the producer on such shows as Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.
DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns teased the return of Booster Gold, though he was careful not to indicate whether it would be live action or in the comics. “You’ll see [Booster Gold] very soon, and there’s talks about…there’s actually a lot of plans for Booster Gold, one of my favorite characters. But yeah, Booster Gold fans, you will definitely be happy with what we’ve got coming up in the years ahead.”
Whether or not this is a good thing, we do not know as of yet, but we are looking forward to some love giving to our favorite time travelling goofy janitor from the future.
