We are expecting footage from Wolverine 3 to be released soon and we are extremely excited to see Hugh Jackman one last time bring out the adamantium claws. We are assuming the story will be Jackman as Old Man Logan, which will make us very happy, but we now know a bit more about the movie.
According to Bryan Singer, who provided a director’s commentary, in the home release of X-Men Apocalypse, the post credits scene actually teased Wolverine 3 and not the next X-Men movie.
The scene features a man going through the Weapon X facility carrying an Essex Corp briefcase and during the commentary, Singer confirms Mister Sinister will be in Wolverine 3.
Mister Sinister, also known as Nathaniel Essex, was able to become more powerful by experimenting on other mutants. X-Men fans will remember that Apocalypse was also involved in Essex becoming who he is and choosing Sinister as his new name, which makes the character reveal at the end of Apocalypse a bit of a ah-huh moment. Even though there was no hint in Apocalypse that the two had ever met before, it doesn’t take too much to tie the characters together if need be.
We have no idea on who Fox has cast in the role. It has been theorized that Richard E. Grant who is listed as a Mad Scientist may mean he’ll be the one to take on the role of Mister Sinister. Hopefully we’ll get confirmation on that soon.
Wolverine 3 opens in U.S. theaters on March 3, 2017,
