At an event Thursday in Los Angeles to promote the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” author J.K. Rowling revealed that the upcoming film series, originally intended to be a trilogy, will now span five movies.
All five will be prequels to the eight-film “Harry Potter” series. The scripts for all five will also be written by Rowling, she said. Rowling, who is putting the finishing touches on her screenplay for the second film in the series, took to Twitter soon after the announcement to clarify for fans.
“5. Five. Cinq. Funf. Cinco. Cinque,” she wrote, adding: “I think, when you realise what story we’re *really* telling, you’ll understand that it can’t possibly fit in one movie. … There’s a natural arc to five. You’ll see.”
This is great news for Potter fans!
