With the news of Star Wars spin-offs such as Hans Solo and Rogue One, you would think that it would be perfect if we were to get a Obi-Wan spin-off. After all, whatever happened to Obi-Wan’s Lost Days?
There might just be a very good reason that we may not get one in the near future and it’s a pretty big deal. In a recent radio interview, Entertainment Weekly reporter Anthony Breznican was asked about a solo outing for Obi-Wan, and his response was very interesting indeed. “I have heard rumors that the one reason they haven’t moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they’re not done with Obi-Wan quite yet in the Saga films. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan thing happen beyond Episode IX.”
Does this further confirm he is somehow related to Rey?
In The Force Awakens, during the dream sequence scene where Rey finds the light saber, near the end we hear a (Computer generated) voice of Alec Guinness’s voice say the name ‘Rey’ and then we hear Ewan McGregor’s voice say ‘These are the first steps’.
Obviously, it was a huge hint at the time because Obi-Wan had been dead for quite a while. Force ghosts do not usually stay around that long, but why was she able to hear his voice in particular? It may be because he held onto the light saber for decades and he’s still tied to it in some way.
