Batgirl Movie? Joss Whedon?

We’re going to put this in the ‘We didn’t see this one coming’ file.

Variety is reporting that Joss Whedon (Avengers: Age of Ultron) is going to direct a stand alone Batgirl movie for Warner Bros. The article also says that this idea has just evolved in the last month or so, so could it be because of a Batman solo film? Nightwing Movie? Or Gotham City Sirens?

Whedon expressed a huge interest after doing AofU a solo Black Widow movie, but as we all know, that never came to fruition.

This is pretty stunning news and we are of course excited, but we can’t help wondering about The Flash movie.
