Wack Wednesday: Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite Features No X-Men Characters Because…Why?

We have a new feature post this week. It’s called Wack Wednesday because this story is just…wack. There’s no other word for it.

We found out why there are no X-Men characters in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite and if this doesn’t make you do a double take after you read it…

Readers, we give you Capcom’s Michael Evans explaining why there are no X-Men in Marvel vs. Capcom

“We talked with Marvel very closely about their future roadmap, about what’s gonna be happening. Your modern Marvel fan, maybe they don’t even remember some of the X-Men characters, but they know some of the Guardians characters or Black Panther. You know what I mean? Captain Marvel may seem like a strange pick, but she’s fantastic. She fits the gameplay. She fits the story, and they’re gonna be really pushing her as a strong female lead all the way up into the movie. We’re trying to take everything into account and choose the best characters.”

People don’t remember X-Men characters?

Like Wolverine? Deadpool? Magneto? Professor X? Mystique? Beast? Cyclops?

Strong female characters?

Like Storm? Jean Grey? Rogue? Kitty Pride?

  1. So, what I think is that they’re not allowing X Men characters because of the reception of the movies. You can tell that the roster (for the Marvel side) is sticking to the MCU, cause those are the most loved out of the Marvel movies now a days. When you look at other Marvel movies owned by Fox, they aren’t to loved, sure Logan was loved but X Men Apocalypse was hated, same with that new Fantastic 4 movie. People who are likely to buy the game are either people who played MVC before, or if they’re fans of the comics/movies. That’s unfortunate cause people love the X Men/Fantastic 4 characters in the game. My hope is they’ll add X Men as DLC later on since X Men are still loved by a lot of people.
