Does Marvel’s Wolverine game take place in the 70s?

Hey Everyone, it has come to our attention that several fans have been investigating the Marvel’s Wolverine teaser that we got form the PlayStation Showcase and they have found some very interesting information. That information being that this game could take place in the 1970s.

Wolverine’s teaser was definitely the largest surprise during the event and fans clearly can’t get more excited for this new game. So, why are some saying that it is going to take place in the 70s?

Well, the biggest piece of information is the cash register, which is very prominent in this shot of the teaser:

The register has the total at a convenient 19.74. This and the lack of modern technology in the teaser could be hinting at a game taking place prior to Insomniac’s Spider-Man.

Even the song that is playing, The Dark End Of The Street, came out in 1967. So, it is in the time frame of this potential seventies game.

However, the one issue we can see with this theory is that 1974 is the year that Wolverine was first introduced in The Incredible Hulk #180.

WOLVERINE's First True Appearance to Be Re-Released as Facsimile Edition | 13th Dimension, Comics, Creators, Culture

Although the idea of an origin game showcasing Wolverine sounds awesome, it could potentially just be a small nod to Wolverine’s original appearance.

Sadly, we don’t know much about this game yet. Hopefully we are wrong, because it would be amazing to see Wolverine’s origin appear as well as the origin to the X-Men. Perhaps Xavier’s school of gifted youngsters aren’t too far away either.

What do you think? Is it just a nod or a hint at what is to come?
