A Facebook Live broadcast from the set of Thor: Ragnarok didn’t spoil too much about the third film, but there were a couple of teases dropped along the way.
Broadcasting from a location near the Gold Coast in Australia, director Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth took viewers for a tour of the location, which featured a crashed spaceship and robed figures Waititi referred to as “scrappers.”
The broadcast came on the final day of production on the movie, with the director saying, “This is my last day, I think I’m getting fired after this.” Hemsworth replied with, “I think we all are.”
The finished movie, the pair joked, was headed “straight to VHS,” but with a twist. “There’s only going to be one copy, though, so you’ll have to share it around,” Hemsworth told his audience, suggesting a rental fee of $50 per viewing.
Waititi did let something slip though when he was introducing an actor who’s playing a character called Miek. That name should sound familiar to us comic book lovers, he was an alien who teamed with the Hulk to overthrow a despotic regime that forced slaves to fight gladiatorial battles in order to survive on the planet Sakaar.
We already know that Thor Ragnarok will feature Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk teaming up with Thor while the two deal with the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), a cosmic being who, in his comic book incarnation, likes to pit characters against each other in battles of some sort or another, so it’s interesting to have a character that just might set up a Planet Hulk story-line.
You can check out the broadcast below. It’s 14 minutes long though!
Thor: Ragnarok will be released Nov. 3, 2017.
