We all know Kevin Smith is a huge comic book fan. Several years ago he also wrote a script for a movie called Superman Lives. His take never made it to the big screen due to various complications, but recently he said he would love to bring it back as an animated movie.
“Oh like based on my script, based on the Superman Lives script? That would be tight, dude. I’m not going to lie, that would be fun to see. That’s something I worked on 20 years ago at this point, so that would be really amazing to kind of see, like they turn it into a cartoon and get the people to do the voices. Nic Cage is still around and stuff. And I wanted Michael Rooker for my Lex Luthor, so that would be amazing. Um, but, you know, I’m game. That ain’t up to me, kids. That’s up to the good folks at Warner Bros. and stuff, but if they were ever to call and say hey, we want to do a cartoon version of that Superman script we wrote, believe me I’d be like, that’d be dope, man. You know you close all loops in life, one way or another, and that would be a nice way to close that loop.”
He also said that he would love to remake the classic movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks!

Disney is remaking everything these days, and Smith thinks that now is the perfect time to resurrect the animation and live-action hybrid.
“Bedknobs and Broomsticks can be remade today. That movie can so fucking work today. In a world where Disney’s like, ‘Pete’s Dragon!’ and shit like that… Hey! I will fucking suck dick Disney to make the remake of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. That movie fucking has it all, dude: witches battling fucking nazis with fucking ghosts wearing armor…kids and cartoon under the seas where they play fucking soccer.”
Okay…he definitely got Disney’s attention, but he would have to tone down flinging the f-bomb if he wants to work with Disney…just sayin’.
Rek and I have never heard of Bedknobs and Broomsticks, but never fear because MSR has and she seemed pretty excited about the idea of a remake…although she was quick to point out, the movie was a little before her time.
In a nutshell the movie is set in World War II-era Great Britain and three orphan children find themselves under the care of a friendly witch who grants them a magic bed so that they can go in search for the witch’s final spell.
We’ll see what happens!
