Creed, Creed, Creed, Creed! It’s Seppin here and I thought I would share a quick review on the movie ‘Creed’. I finally got to see it this weekend and I was blown away.
Let me start off by saying that I have been waiting for this movie since the first trailer. I am a big fan of most of the Rocky movies (Let’s not bring up Rocky V) and to see a more modern representation of boxing in a movie really brings a smile to my face. Secondly, I want to bring up the fact that I really enjoy Micheal B. Jordan. I think he did a great job in Fruitvale Station, and even in Fantastic Four. I believe that he was the best part of that movie.
Now on to the review…
I absolutely loved this movie, not because of it’s connection to the earlier Rocky movies, but because of how well acted and put together it was. The story brought up some of the dangers in boxing and showed us the hard effort that these men have to go through. It is very similar to the first Rocky, which is great because the first Rocky is really good. If you haven’t seen the Rocky movies…What, are you living under a rock? They are on Netflix right now, so go ahead and watch them, but you really do need to know some of the basics about Rocky and his former foe/friend Apollo Creed.
Adonis (Micheal B. Jordan) is the illegitimate son of Apollo and other than that you need to know a quick rundown of the fights between Rocky and Apollo, you can go into this movie, and really enjoy it. The movie is of great quality, I’ll go so far as to say it is a must see even. I think that it brings a lot of common day hardships and works them into a way where you can relate to every character.
Now, for the people who utterly hate Stallone. I’m sorry, but I have to give him some props for it. He isn’t in every scene since this isn’t Rocky VI. There are a couple of jokes though that gets the whole audience laughing at some points. You can occasionally feel bad for him in the film after he has lost his wife and best friends.
To wrap this up I think that the movie was great and would even put it in my top five best movies of 2015. I think that everyone should try to get a chance to see it. Have a good day.
