Top Five Tuesday: Green Lanterns

 

Today for our Top Five Tuesday we are going to list our favorite Green Lanterns from the Green Lantern Corp.

Let’s get started!

 

5. Mogo

Mogo is a living planet. It makes our top five because it’s just the most insane Green Lantern. Just imagine an entire planet that thinks on its own. It also has the distinction of being the one to send each Green Lantern their distinctive rings when they are chosen.

4. John Stewart

John Stewart was a marine who was chosen after saving his companion by the Green Lantern ring. He is an extremely powerful Green Lantern, but not as creative as most. He can make an entire army of Marines though.

He also…kind of blew up Mogo the planet and had to put it back together piece by piece.

3. Kilowog

Kilowog is a highly advanced officer and he is the primary trainer for all the new Green Lanterns. He was originally a genetic scientist on his planet Bolovax Vik until he was recruited by the guardians of the universe.

Poozer…this is the word he says all the time. Basically means useless rookie.

2. Kyle Rayner

Kyle Rayner was raised by his mother after his father abandoned them when he was little. Later he learned that his father was a CIA agent and his name was actually just an alias. He was given a Green Lantern ring after Hal Jordan went on a rampage when his city was destroyed.

At first, he took the role lightly, but his girlfriend Alexandra encouraged him to be more responsible and take his new position as a superhero seriously. He also created his own suit. Unfortunately, what ultimately drives him to become better, is when Alexandra is murdered and gets stuffed in a refrigerator by super-villain Major Force. Her murder is known as one of the most gruesome in comic history.

He was given what was known to be the last Green Lantern ring and he became very powerful because of his rampant imagination. He has mastered all of the Lantern rings and eventually became a White Lantern.

Interesting side note, Kyle is well looked upon by one important Justice League member, and that is Batman. It is often said that Batman views him more favorable than most of his own Justice League colleagues.

1. Hal Jordan

Hal Jordan is the most well-known Green Lantern. Hal was a testing pilot in the Air Force and he is given the ring when it finds him while he is training.

His character has the most stories, but he is not as powerful as Kyle Rayner. He makes our number one mostly because he is the most famous and we are probably going to be seeing him soon.

Honorable Mention

Guy Gardner

Guy Gardner is definitely the most powerful Green Lantern.

Why did he make just an honorable mention?

Because he makes a better Red Lantern and also because of this…
