Assassin’s Creed Movie Trailer Shot by Shot Review

maxresdefault (1)

After waiting all day yesterday, the first movie trailer for Assassin’s Creed finally dropped on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night!

We want to remind you that Rek is a huge fan and he has been waiting for this movie with much anticipation. If you would like to read his review and read his explanation on the Assassin’s Creed games you can go here.

Check out the trailer below and then we’ll go through it shot by shot.

First Reactions

Rek: This trailer is exactly what I pictured it to look like. Although the animus looks a little strange to me, the rest of the movie seems to be relatively accurate. I am very excited for this movie and can not wait to see it in theaters.

Seppin: I liked this trailer. It looks a lot like the games. Especially the action sequences. I haven’t played many of their games but from the game trailers and the few experiences I have it looks great. I think that it will make an excellent movie.

Let’s get started!

In this scene, we see Michael Fassbender’s character waking up in what seems to be a hospital bed at Abstergo Industries. This probably takes place after his death was faked.

Here we have Marion Cotillard, who is playing a doctor who works at Abstergo. Although not much is shown about her, I have a feeling that they will do what they did with Lucy in the first games. Could she be an assassin undercover or will she be a Templar? Your guess is as good as mine.

Callum Lynch is tied up to a chair and is receiving the death penalty. The time is 5:59 p.m. I don’t know how that is helping anyone comprehend what is going on, but it is. My question is who is the guy on the left? A secret service agent, assassin, Templar? Whatever Callum did, it must have been pretty serious.

In this scene, Callum is asking what kind of prison is this? I have multiple ideas on what the place is. Personally, I think that it is a place similar to Assassin’s Creed III, where Desmond and the crew hide out. Does this mean that the movie will touch on the gods who lived before us? I don’t know, but that is the vibe that I am getting from this part in the trailer. On the back, we can see that he has a DR on his back. Now I know he isn’t a doctor, but maybe this represents his Subject ID. Subject DR?

This is a good look at the Abstergo symbol on the wall.

This is our first look at Jeremy Iron’s character in the movie. I presume that he will be one of the heads of Abstergo and most likely a Templar. He is overseeing Callum’s process into the Animus.

The great collection of hidden blades from fallen assassins. Maybe Jeremy Irons’ personal collection?

Here we see two aggressive looking doctors are placing Callum into the Animus.

An amazing shot of his hidden blades.

In this shot, we get a look at the Animus. Matrix? It is an interesting adaptation for the film. I think that they are trying to make the Animus into a training simulator and that would explain why he has the hidden blades. I mean, what Templar would be stupid enough to give Callum a weapon. Maybe this is a prototype for the animus that we see in the games, or maybe this is what they will look like from now on. I don’t know.

An assassin’s creed trailer would not be complete without this eagle.

Here we see Maria at the Assassin’s Bureau.

A great close up on Aguilar who is Callum Lynch’s ancestor.

I love this shot of the Assassin Brotherhood and their variety of weapons. This is going to be my new screen saver.

A great close up on the master assassin, Maria.

These seem to be the heads of an organization. I can’t tell whether or not their Templars, but they are not wearing hoods…

Callum Lynch’s ancestor is getting lynched. Ironic. It seems like he is staring down the heads of the organization on the last shot. I also believe that Maria is tied up behind him.

An epic air assassination being done by Aguilar.

I am not sure what is going on here, but it looks pretty cool.

A line of Abstergo security and they don’t look too happy. Will they be taking on some assassins?

I love how the parkour is being incorporated into the movie and I am very excited to see it on the big screen.

Another epic shot of Maria and Aguilar on the rooftops of Spain.

BAM! Maria just destroyed these two with a double assassination. It sucks to be them.

Here we see Aguilar breaking free from his death post with the help of Maria. I don’t know who those two people were, but they are in for some trouble.

Callum is taking on the Abstergo security team with some fellow assassins. I can’t tell whether they were the nurses or the subjects, but I think that they are other subjects who have completely lost it.

Aguilar and Maria are back to back. I believe that this scene and the next are going to be used to explain how Callum is learning skills from his ancestors.

As I said, Callum now knows how to shoot a bow. The question remains, who are the assassins staring down.

I love how they recreated an old Spain and I can’t wait to see more of the beautiful landscape.

More parkour with Aguilar and Maria.

This shot looks so much like one of the game trailers, it is insane how close these shots line up with the parkour in the games.

Callum has woken up from the Matrix.

I like the logo. This will probably be my phone’s background until I find something better.

Oh…..No…he isn’t…….

The Leap of Faith.

However unrealistic it may be, it is a requirement for every assassin to complete for their training.

Assassin’s Creed Official Synopsis:
