Top Five Comic Book Fathers

In honor of Father’s Day, we wanted to post a special top five and give a shout out to the best father’s in the comic book universe. This was actually a lot harder than you would think since most comic book characters seem to to lose their parents tragically, but there are a few shining examples and today we wanted to honor them.

 

5. Jor-El / Pa Kent

It was nearly impossible to choose between these two so we made it a tie. Jor-el is on here mostly because Russel Crowe did an awesome job in Man of Steel, but Jonathan Kent helped raise an alien in Kansas. How weird is that? They were both great Father figures to the Man of Steel and that is why we have them on the list.

4. Rick Grimes

This man searched the zombie filled Georgia for his family and ever since he has protected his son from any danger that got to close, as well as his young daughter. He leads his group so no one makes a mistake and cost his children’s lives.

3. Batman

He’s Batman. That may sound cool to be the son of Batman at first, but he didn’t know that Damian existed until Talia brought him to Gotham. Bruce has made some mistakes with Damian, but he tries to fix everything that the League had taught his young son which is kind of difficult. We see Bruce’s love for Damian the most when Damian dies. Bruce, while filled with rage, heads over to Apokalips to find a special crystal. He runs into Darkseid and beats the life out of him. The Justice League eventually save Bruce before the waves of Parademons consume him. Bruce reveals he obtain the crystal and brings Damian back to life. Bruce fought the most dangerous man in the universe to bring his son back. Great Father.

2. Luke Cage

Luke Cage is the man. He married Jessica Jones and co-created the Heroes for Hire which will help pay all those bills for his family. He wasn’t the most acceptable man at first, but Luke Cage became a great man while keeping his family safe. That includes signing the registration act during the Civil War event.

1. Mr. Fantastic

It’s difficult being the father to an insanely powerful son and a super intelligent daughter, but Reed always keeps his family together including Johnny and Ben Grimm. Possibly the best father of all time?
