It looks like the sequel to Man of Steel 2 is going full steam ahead. Warner Bros. is reportedly in early talks with director Matthew Vaughn (X-Men:First Class & Kingsman Secret Service) to helm the project.
Interestingly enough, Vaughn did pitch a Superman story to Warner Bros. with Kick Ass writer Mark Miller, but the studio went with Nolan & Goyer’s take on the Man of Steel. Vaughn had this to say at the time, which may be telling:
“I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious The Dark Knight version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.”
Obviously, they are not going to go with a lighthearted, comedic take on Superman, but it would fit that the DCEU would want to make a more hopeful and inspiring film, but again, talks are still in the very early stages, so let’s not get our hopes up just yet!
