New X-Men Apocalypse Trailer Review

 

A new X-Men Apocalypse trailer has arrived and in it there is a ton of new footage.

Charles, listen to reason. Yup we all know Magneto’s usual conversation with Professor X.

“Please, join me Charles.”

 

We also know that Professor X isn’t going to budge when Magneto asks Charles to join him.

 

We get a good look at our new Cyclops and in the background we can see Nightcrawler. It’s nice to see that they look like their characters from the comics. On another note, it would be great to see Cyclops start to maybe grow into a leadership role.

 

So they are going to give us an origin for Apocalypse. The thing is, there isn’t really that much backstory that explains Apocalypse. He was the first mutant who appeared in Egypt long ago. He was given the mechanical virus from Cable, the same one that he gives Cable in the future. I know it’s confusing. Maybe we will see Cable give him the virus. Since he is going to be in Deadpool 2, might as well show him here.

 

Okay, close up on Apocalypse’s face with some glowing symbols in the background.

 

Weird, it’s almost looks like they are taking his conscience and placing it into the body. We can see in the background the guy from the previous image and some Egyptian priests. I guess this gets rid of my Cable idea since it seems he already has that new body.

How come whenever they want to show a character using immense power or them being possessed they make their eyes roll back. Since this seems familiar to where Magneto is living I would assume that Apocalypse is giving his power to him and making him a horseman. We can also see Storm and Psylocke in the background. Turns out that they are already horsemen and are working for Apocalypse.

 

And Apocalypse showed his power by killing all those people. Sorry Magneto but your epic powers cannot compare to this guy.

 

Wear your helmet, you were destined with the amazing gift. Oh, to be Magneto!

 

This is Angel. Not archangel. So we believe that this is when he is going to get captured and probably tortured until Apocalypse comes to him as a God and beholds him the power he needs.

Rek: Debatable…

Seppin: If they are metal wings, they are not like the sharp knives he has in the comics.

This is a cool shot to see Apocalypse building a world much like ancient Egypt. We can see his four horsemen there by his side too. This might be a mirage or image that he is showing them, but it also could be somewhere that he has terraformed.

 

This is an awesome way to represent his power and show just what he can do.

 

Jean Grey is obviously still freaked out after her nightmare, but it seems these three are in the basement trying to be X-Men.

 

Oh, the Blackbird. It’s great to see you ready to take your X-Men off on a fantastic adventure.

 

We saw this one coming. The star of the last movie. Quicksilver is joining the X-Men. Of course his mom doesn’t approve. I can’t wait to see how she reacts when she realizes her daughter is a mutant too.

Ha…spoiler.

 

Again we see his ability to change his size. Nothing new just him fighting this way.

 

Angel is fighting Nightcrawler? Not sure why that would be since they are X-Men. Maybe it’s when he first met the X-Men. We’re just not sure.

 

It is amazing to see Bryan Singer back at making Nightcrawler one of the most visually appealing characters to watch. Especially since he is beating the crap out of Angel.

 

There he is, probably ready to leave the fight too. It looks to be his origin from his life in the circus from the clothes he is wearing.

 

Beast versus Psylocke.  First we can get a really good look at Psylocke’s abilities and also that Beast is going barefoot. I can’t wait to see this fight because it is sure to be awesome.

 

The Blackbird is moving in.

 

Storm is showing off her ability to use unlimited power.

 

Just some plain destruction.

 

Great, Cyclops is going full blast on someone. Probably Apocalypse.

 

Or Storm.

 

Something seems to be going on in Cerebro. Professor X is in pain and obviously Havoc is blasting the room. Maybe Apocalypse has taken over Cerebro.

We need some life-alert here because Charles has fallen and can’t get up. He’s bleedin’ out.

 

Mystique is getting choked out by Apocalypse.

 

Final Thoughts:

Seppin: I’ve been really excited for this movie ever since the end credits scene of Days of Future Past. I think picking an unstoppable character like Apocalypse was a brilliant idea. Plus it will be cool to see our X-Men in the 80’s.

Rek: I thought the trailer was good. I especially liked Nightcrawler. He looked cool. I’m kind of getting sick and tired of Mystique.
