Netflix Orders Sandman Series

Hey everyone! If you haven’t already heard, Vertigo’s title Sandman is getting a series on Netflix. Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman) will serve as writer, executive producer and showrunner on The Sandman. It’s also been confirmed that Gaiman will write and executive produce alongside David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight). The series will have eleven episodes in total, with the first written by the trio above!

A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic–and human–mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.”

Neil Gaiman went on Twitter recently to help clear up some sounding questions from his Vertigo fans. In them, he confirmed that the series will pick up thirty years later in The Sandman universe. He also said that this series “won’t even try” to convey the entire Sandman story in a single season and that this first season will act like the first Sandman comic, Preludes and Nocturnes.

Great to see that Neil Gaiman is taking an active role in the recent adaptations that have occurred in the past few years. The Sandman comic is a fantastically written world with magical characters and we can’t wait to see what they do with the Netflix series.

What do you guys think about a Sandman Netflix series? Are you excited? Tell us in the comments below! Until next time…
