Welcome back! Today we will be reviewing Absolute Carnage #1 which is written by Donny Cates and has art by Ryan Stegman.
~~Review~~
So, Carnage is not a character that I would usually be into. I like Venom. I love Spider-Man, but Carnage has never been on my radar. However, I picked up this book because I really enjoy Donny Cates’ reinvention of Venom and I wanted to see what he was going to do with Carnage, who was recently resurrected and also recently had bonded with Norman Osborn to give us Red Goblin.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought that the art was gritty and fit the serious story very well. I also really like how Eddie is written and how Spider-Man joins in. I also LOVE the premise of the Carnage Symbiote being this god-like entity hunting down everyone who has ever worn a symbiote to make an army able to wake up Knull, the Symbiote God. Amazing! This story is a lot of build-up, but I think it is important to set the stage for this epic battle between Carnage and the Marvel universe.
Overall, this was an incredible book and surprised me by its intricate storytelling and gritty artwork.
