Welcome back! Today we will be reviewing Superman: Up in the Sky #2 which is written by Tom King and features art by Andy Kubert.
~~Review~~
I love the idea of Tom King writing Superman, however, I am not the biggest fan of him yet. I didn’t really care for his Action Comics #1000 story and the first issue of this story was okay. I think that these are just a fun group of one-off stories and should be taken as such. They aren’t meant to be incredible, they are meant to be fun and reminiscent of the earlier stories.
I feel like this is old school Superman, but it feels like one of those one-shot stories you would never hear from ever again. Superman boxes some guy and then he is healed by an alien who sacrifices his life for him and the whole time Superman is looking for a girl who has been abducted by aliens. It’s not the best story. It’s very simple and fun at times. However, I did get bored reading it, it wasn’t filled with the action and heroism that I expected and therefore didn’t interest me. I enjoy the art, it’s rough and works well with Tom King’s writing.
Overall, it was an okay story but it isn’t necessary.
