Late last week a rumor spread and took off like a fire after a certain YouTuber made a fairly hateful video about The Batman and Robert Pattinson. The gist of the video was that Pattinson did NOT have Covid-19 and was sent home because Matt Reeves was livid because he was so out of shape. The YouTuber also claimed Robert Pattinson was being difficult on set and was deliberately sabotaging the movie.
Oh, and the YouTuber’s name, is Doomc*ck.
Yeah.
Apparently he ‘heard’ from an extra on set all of this so-called credible information. Did we mention he also started the video by calling Pattinson the guy from Twilight? He references this several times and the comments from his followers are all Pattinson hate. None of them have seen him in ANY of the movies he has done since then, but they are, miraculously, all in the know.
The best part was when he again tries to perpetuate the story that Robert Pattinson does not care to play Batman and he never workouts. *Yawn*
He also pulls up a media post in which Pattinson posted a picture of himself joking about looking junkie chic and this was how he was going to portray Bruce Wayne.
Let’s break this down, shall we?
Pattinson was indeed sent home after testing positive for Covid-19. The movie has also been slightly delayed, not because of Pattinson’s difficult behavior, but because of weather. Yes, in Liverpool, where they are shooting, there have been torrential rains and significant flooding.
Secondly, Robert Pattinson has been working out. How do we know this? Well, the several paparazzi photos over the last several months can back this up very easily. There are dozens of photos which depict him jogging with a weight jacket all over London and the man who trained Keanu Reeves in that little film John Wick? He’s Pattinson’s trainer and has spoken of the twenty pounds of muscle Pattinson has put on for the movie. But, if you still don’t believe us, watch the film, The Lighthouse. Pattinson is fairly cut in the movie and he didn’t even have to work out for the role, he just did it because he knew the role might be physically demanding.
The best thing about this video was the social media post though. Why you ask? Well, Robert Pattinson isn’t even on social media and it wasn’t him posting this ‘junkie chic’ statement.
But I’m sure Mr. Doomc*ck is a thorough blogger/YouTuber/ Journalist extraordinaire, right?
He also blabbers on about Robert Pattinson mocking the role and used an example of what Pattinson’s Batman voice would sound like. Again, real good investigative reporting here. Everyone who is up on entertainment news knows Robert Pattinson enjoys, relishes, in trolling reporters. He loves it. Some never know when he is being serious or not, but trust us, he just likes messing with people.
But if you still don’t believe us and are firmly on Mr. Doomc*ck’s side…why don’t you hear it from Robert Pattinson himself, in a non trolling mood, on how he feels about playing Batman.
“To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting,” he said. “It’s much more fun when you’re an underdog. There’s no expectation of you.”
“I sort of had an idea to do it, and I’d been prodding Matt,” he revealed. “He didn’t accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him. [After finally auditioning] I was absolutely relieved when Matt called.”
“You do feel very powerful immediately,” Pattinson explained. “And it’s pretty astonishing, something that is incredibly difficult to get into, so the ritual of getting into it is pretty humiliating. You’ve got five people trying to shove you into something. Once you’ve got it on, it’s like, ‘Yeah, I feel strong, I feel tough, even though I had to have someone squeezing my butt cheeks into the legs.’
I love the director, Matt Reeves, and it’s a dope character. His morality is a little bit off. He’s not the golden boy, unlike almost every other comic-book character. There is a simplicity to his worldview, but where it sits is strange, which allows you to have more scope with the character.
We think this is all ridiculous and dangerous. Not only is this individual slandering an actor simply because he doesn’t like him but now this has set off other YouTubers and bloggers to jump on the made up imaginings of a person who calls themselves Doomc*ck.
We applaud those who have made videos slamming Mr. Doom c*ck and are trying to debunk these rumors. We are not posting a link to the video because the vitriol and ramblings are disgusting. His followers and their comments are equally distasteful.
In the words of Batman himself…
In my attempts to see clearly in the deepest dark, in my efforts to go to the still eye in the storm of madness, did I open myself to some pure source of evil? Did in finally reach the limits of reason and find the devil waiting? And was that fear in his eyes?
Don’t worry. We got your back, Batsy.
