I can’t believe this is happening! We are finally getting a new Batman animated series!
It is going to be a new show that will be on HBO Max and Cartoon Network and it is being helmed by Matt Reeves, Bruce Timm and J.J. Abrams
Immediately after hearing that, I am sure that you can see that there is an absolute dream team working on this project and we should all be excited to see what this new show is going to be like.
From the interviews that we have heard so far, they have said that it is going to be a “reimagining of the Batman mythology.” Perhaps, this means that we will be seeing a new take and origin for many villains and characters of the series. The art that was released above is of a younger and earlier Batman. Could this be hinting at new origins to villains and a more golden age approach to Batman?
We can’t say for sure now, but Reeves’ had an interesting statement saying that, “The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”
I believe that this statement along with Bruce Timm tagging along would mean that we will be seeing something similar to old school animated series. Just look at the picture, the city and the art deco design seem to be returning. I am so glad to see this style come back to the series because it is one of the reasons that I fell in love with Batman. The old school noir font and title cards seem like a shoe-in at this rate!
