Welcome back to our new series in which we review the comics that we read every week. This week Seppin is going to be reviewing the first issue of Pearl which is a series set in Brian Michael Bendis’ Jinxworld.
Although we don’t know much about Bendis’ new Jiinxworld comics, we are getting a look at what it is going to be like. If you like the original Alias comics that introduced Jessica Jones, then you are going to love Pearl. Although she isn’t a P.I, she does have ties to the Yakuza and it makes a very interesting story. I love anything to do with the Yakuza and Japan, so this is a great match for me personally.
I don’t have much to say because this is only the first issues, but it has a serious and dark tone similar to Alias and the main character is a strong woman. The art is also equally stunning because it is done by Michael Gayados, who conveniently also worked with Bendis to create Alias.
Overall, I am super excited to see what Bendis has in the works for Jinxworld and I can’t wait to see what happens to our protagonist.
(How good is the story? Does it stand up to others?)
(Does it tell the story? Does it work well with the character?)
(Does this story need to be told? Is it helping the Character?)
(Is the character represented well? Does the writer understand the character?)
